Sacbé is one of the most important bands in the Mexican contemporary Jazz scene. Founded in 1976 by the Toussaint brothers: Eugenio (piano), Enrique (electric bass) and Fernando (drums) the band performs since 1977 a selection of pieces that has positioned them as one of the foremost contemporary jazz bands in Mexico. To celebrate their 30th anniversary Sacbé interprets those pieces that have positioned the band as spearhead of Mexican contemporary jazz as well as part of an important and fresh music movement consolidating a musical Project with a Latin?American and personal identity. The concept underneath the work of the group is always a reflection of contemporary music without an approach to a particular Folkloric or Latino jazz style. Sacbé mixes all kind of influences that span African, Asian, Brazilian and Mexican music as well as rock and jazz. Recently the Toussaint brothers represented Mexico in the 29th edition of the Montreal Jazz Festival with an incredible success.
