This group, formed primarily by the three Toussaint brothers, Eugenio, Enrique and Fernando (who also has served as the Musical Producer of the Riviera Maya Jazz Festival since its inception) has been responsible for several important landmarks in the history of Mexican jazz. To begin with, Sacbe was the first jazz group to create its own record label in Mexico. It also was the first to integrate one of the early versions of the synthesizer in their arrangements. Both in Mexico and the United States they were a fixture on the jazz scene for more than 20 years and after a period during which they disbanded, have gotten together again several times in recent years, including performing as a group a couple of years ago at the Riviera Maya Jazz Festival. Sacbe are true legends of jazz in this country.

This Cuban-born percussionist is arguably the most sought after musician in his field. Throughout the years he has performed with the legends of jazz, Latin jazz, pop and Latin music. His credits include recording with an extraordinary diversity of stars, from contemporary jazz greats like trumpeter Arturo Sandoval and singer-pianist Diana Krall through legends like James Taylor, Eric Clapton, Al Jarreau and, among Latino greats, José José, Luis Miguel and Alejandro Sanz. His mastery of all aspects of percussion are as old as time and as modern as today, his rhythms being included on the sound tracks of recently released movies such as Hairspray and Oceans 13. Luis has played with several of the stars on the bill of the Riviera Jazz Festival 2007 which will make the event seem like a party with old friends.
